Contact Pendragon's Legal Team

I've just sent an email to Mr Richard Maloney who is part of Pendragon's Legal team whom I have been communicating with, in regards to this matter.

He's currently on annual leave, but his automated email has been kind enough to give me a contact number for Pendragon.

As this number is hard to find, I would like to share it with you. I haven't called it, but it may be worth a go if you want to get in direct contact with the Legal Team.

Pendragon: 01623 725200

  1. Can i just say Evans Halshaw are not a small business there are a large PLC company with sites all over the UK. They have not got where they are by fobbing customers off! I am on my 5th car with them now and must say their customer relationship is second to none! It is in their intrest to make sure the cars are ok. Every car they sell has £300 hundred pound spent on it to make sure there car is ok. I do not know another dealer that does this. Every car will have problems at some point, they are not human beings they are cars pieces of metal!
Yes they come with guidelines in their warranties because they have to and i tell you now even if you go over the warranty period they will still try to help you as much as they can! iVe had problems with my car but its a god dam car they do break!!! and regards to insurance u having to pay £10 yes you do but i bet it will cost them a lot more. This company has a duty of care to make sure their customer is happy and they will try their best to help! i will not go anywhere else to buy a car now after dealing with my local dealership! I tell you what try somewhere else you will have a shock not mentioning any comapny names because i wouldnt do that. But for all you lot to sit here and write a load of crap about a dealership that to me is great to me you are all crackers! Every car i buy i recieve flowers and a bottle of wine. Evans Halshaw are by far the best dealer to buy from thanks very much guys!!!!

    2. They are a joke of a company. The senior managers are full of nonsense. They cheat and lie and when you get proof, they stop responding to you.

    3. Also that number is full of brain dead staff, who simply operate like machines with no concern in the world and take only the views of the company not the customer. So much for customer complaints.

    4. I would never buy another vehicle from Evans Halshaw particularly the one on Preston New Road the manager was rude and never replies to a telephone message come to think he never replied to a letter either - avoid like the plague.

  4. Whatever the rights and wrongs of this case, the way EH has failed to resolve this situation to the customer's satisfaction has created a severely unhappy customer - one so unhappy that she feels the need to go to the lengths of creating a dedicated blog on the subject. It doesn't reflect well on the brand and no switched on company in 2011 should let things get to this point. Shame.

  5. Dear Anonymous (9th Jan),
You clearly have no comprehension of the upset and inconvenience this issue has caused Karen. You are either on the Evans Halshaw payroll, or you are severely lacking in intelligence - I fear it's the latter as both your grammar and misuse of 'there, their and they're' is comical. May I suggest you ask Evans Halshaw to give you a dictionary next time you purchase a car from them as opposed to flowers and wine?
Now, get back in your box and shut the lid!
    Regards
    Leanne

  6. Karen has been completely screwed over by them and they should be ashamed of themselves I certainly wouldn't use them after this. I agree anon needs to crawl back into his box and also agree that he is probably an employee or sleeping with the boss!!! Actually if all employees are as thick and uneducated as anon sounds no wonder the company have made such a cock up!!

  7. This is awful ! I hope you managed to resolve it. I was thinking of getting a car from here and definitely won't do now. Especially when chav members of staff seem to think it's clever to write (if you can call it that) comments slagging off their customers. In't that right boi ?!

  10. I just remembered, someone I know told me her son was offered just £100 for his car by Evans Halshaw. Another company offered him a grand! Goes to show, how much of a rip off money grabbing company Evans Halshaw are!

  11. That's the problem with big companies, they think they are so much bigger than their customers when they wouldn't be where they are without them. Well done Karen for sticking upto them and hope all goes well with it.

  13. This blog is fairly old but just to let you know Karen (everyone) EH are still at it. I am having some big issues with a car I purchased from them. I took out the comprehensive warranty which supposedly covered labour and parts. Apparently however diagnostics tests are not covered and they can't indentify any faults until they run a diagnostics!!! Hmmmm, seven diagnostics later (£380) they have identified four faults with the EML. They are prepared to go halves on the repairs...I DON'T THINK SO! Just raised a county court claim against them for what it has cost me so far...fingers crossed!

    1. Well done you!!!
Stick to your guns! It's stressful but worth it!
For me it soon became amusing it was costing them more than it would have cost them to do the repairs in the first place!

  15. I have read all these posts and trhey make me laugh !
Although I no longer work in the Motor Industry, I have worked for a number of the larger Motor dealers, and Evans Halshaw is One of the better ones.
In respect of Warranty, None of the Waranty companies cover Diagnostics, and will only cover the labour to replace a failed component, people should read their documents then it will not be a shock, and maybe they will not take it out on the poor Service receptionist that has to take the abuse.
All dealers know there legal obligations and if you are in the right they will honour them, I would suggest that if Evans Halshaw are not paying for something the the chances are they are not obliged to.

  16. What is a warranty if it doesn't cover the cost of the initial investigation....? That's like taking an unopened out of date can of soup back to Tesco and them saying they will charge you £75 to open it to taste it. The motor industry is full of people who think they live above the legal frameworks in which they exist.

The sale of goods act and other consumer protection laws are far greater in force that a poorly worded contract, just because its written on paper does not make it binding. The sooner the motor industry realise this the better. Good luck to anyone who has to take on a dealer, use the law to its fullest extent.

  17. Me and my partner purchased a car from EH approx 6 weeks ago. After 2 weeks it developed an AFL fault which is something to do with self leveling headlights, but worse than that the car cut out 3 times whilst my pregnant partner was driving it. After 24 days in the hands of EH the car has been returned with no fault found. This then gets better, the drivers headlight doesnt work at all now plus the car has been bumped at the front, which they are trying to imply has been done by ourselves. Will let you know how I get on with this joke of a company.

  18. Just thought i would add my Evans Halshaw experience. I purchased i Land Rover Discovery from Evans Halshaw in Leeds, On returning the car home i noticed a few issues with steering and suspension. I took the care back which they did fix but with the wrong parts. After the car going too and from Evans Halshaw in Leeds it was still not fixed 2 months down the line. So i decided to take it to a different Evans Halshaw garage which was closer to home as the parts that needed fixing where covered under the warranty. It was to my surprise that this Evens Halshaw garage didn't even want to undertake the work as they find it hard to receive payment from the warranty company. In the end i felt my only option was to take the car to Stratstone Land Rover and have the work carried out by them and cover the extra costs myself that the warranty wouldn't. But to my surprise the two companies are infact owned by Pendragon. The work was then carried out in two days and i had no problems at all with Stratstone who where a far more capable company to deal with.

  19. This company should be avoided at all cost.
They sold me a car that had been clocked with a false service history.
This then took me a years worth of messing with solictors to finaly get my money back .
I have since been contacted by a new owner and the car has been put into auction by them again with a falsefied history.
They are an absolute disgrace ,buyer beware !

  20. Got car, paid for extended warranty. Exhaust fumes are getting into cabin through the vents. They want £75 to diagnose!!!! Whats the point of paying extra for warranty?

  21. Bought car from e/h Edinburgh. Took out 1 year warranty now the turbo is leaking after 5 months and only 2900 miles from purchasing and been told warranty will only pay £500 towards the bill and I've to pay £1200 my self to get my car back. What's the point of purchasing a warrant

  22. we bought a car from Evans Halshaw Hull which was brought down from Stockton for us 2 weeks ago. We were not told it had been a hire car and there is no record of it having an oil change in over 43,000 miles. It is all a game to them, we are just getting passed from pillar to post. The car battery has been flat every time we wanted to go out in it. There was a inspection light on and a warning for ADblue. I don't recomment ever buying a car from them. If you are having problems with them get in touch with the Citizens Advice and ask them to pass your details to Trading Standards. The more complaints they get the more they are able to do about this shower.

  23. Sorry for such a delayed response, but just to help others if you've already sorted... did you have a copy of 'the warranty'?

Had issues myself as you may see from this blog!

  24. Has anyone else had issues with selling their vehicle to Evans Halshaw Ford Edinburgh at Baileyfield Road? After an hour-long appraisal process and agreeing to a valuation and offer price with the Buying Assistant, my wife and I sold our old car to them on Saturday morning. We signed the Evans Halshaw purchase contract, received the confirmation email from DVLA to say that the vehicle was no longer in our possession and left the building. We understood that this was final and that we would receive payment within three working days.

Half an hour later, we received an email from the same Buying Assistant who had appraised our vehicle, liaised with Evans Halshaw Head Office to generate the offer price and signed our contractual agreement, his email said “Extremely sorry in regards to this but the price has had to be changed due to the age of the vehicle and the steering issue.” Neither the age of the vehicle nor the steering issue, which had been discussed at length during the appraisal, had changed since the original offer had been issued. So, we were perplexed to hear that we would be receiving £160 less than we had agreed and signed for.

After responding to say that the situation was unacceptable, we then received an email saying “If you are not happy with the [new] offer then you can come back and collect the car and take your business elsewhere, also the reasoning for this is because of the damage of the car and head office have had to re-value. Should you not wish to accept then nop [sic] problem. Also please let me know if you would like to come back and collect the car.“

Unfortunately, we are not able to collect the car as it is already signed across to the dealer’s ownership, therefore it is no longer our vehicle and our insurance is no longer valid. As it stands we have received no money from the dealership and feel that this is very unjust.

We would be grateful to hear if anyone else has had any similar issues with this dealership, or elsewhere, and how they were able to resolve the conflict? We are receiving no response from the dealership at present.

    1. Only just revisited my blog.
      How did you get on?
I'd have refused the reduction & return if you had a signed agreement, plus who's to say what trauma your car had gone through in the time they had it!?

  30. i have paid £200 pounds to have a car moved locally to me, i advised details of px and informed other px offers, delivery took longer than the 10 days stated i missed an alternative car waiting for the EH one to be delivered then they offer me £1700 less on the px. EH want to make too much money on the cars they sell, the cars they buy ie px and the difference to exchange.
I understand EH want to make money, but what i dont expect is to be lied to as i was told my px car would sell £2000 pounds under what they are selling same spec and mileage cars for! liars beware! shame as i liked the car, but EH too greedy!

  31. I purchased a warranty from Stoke on Trent Evans Halshaw that was dated 4 days before I purchased the vehicle. How can I buy warranty on a car I never owned at this time? I am however still awaiting my new warranty policy and have contacted ombudsman to investigate the paperwork I own relating to this concerning behaviour?

  34. Stay Clear
I originally purchased a vehicle for £7000 out of the four months of ownership this vehicle spent two months in the workshop, thus resulting in a meeting with the business manager and myself questioning the reliability of the vehicle. This resulted in myself purchasing another vehicle price being £7067 and having to put an additional £750 towards it as mine had lost value in the two months I had it on the road. The original warenty (two years) that’s I took of for £500 according to Evans Halshaw was not transferable and stays with vehicle nor were they willing as goodwill to give me a free one on new car £500 if I so wished to have a new warenty. Irrespective that the previous cars problems were of no fault of mine. Moral of storey is they have my money and that’s that put up and shut up despite various E -Mails telephone calls ect they literally have no morals or integrity for such a large organisation very poor customer aftercare quality used cars that I question and having read various reviews on Goggle it would seem this is a common theme

  35. I have to agree once they have your money not interested try to complain and I have been met with rudeness and a brick wall from the Manager have done nothing to help would NEVER buy another vehicle from them again my advise would be to avoid at all costs and go to another dealership who has morals there is one out there. I am just sorry I did not go to them first could of save myself a lot of stress and money but now I know and if I can stop anyone else buying a car from this rabble of a company I would.

  36. I am currently in a war with them. Brought an audi q7 in august 2018. From the word go i have had issues, i have been sold a car that should come with full service history and a minimum of 6 months MOT. No chance less then 30 days MOT. The warranty i payed for, not put on the system. First break down. on the next day. Door seals falling off, they prepped it so bad there was spray paint on the windows. dirt under the lacquer. Lots of electrical issues. They have now had my car for the past 2 months. Yes 2 months i say! and now its beyond economical repair so they said we will buy i back.... oh no this is where it begins minus this minus that all in all 17.5k is now 13k. Andy Verrall - East regional Director, Rob Miller - Head of car store, Jaz Grewal leicester dealer principle, One Huge Circus. Im awaiting a response from to bring this nightmare to an end. Brought a 7 seat car. Paid for Taxi last 2 months, car hire as they cant supply a 7 seat car. Stress, i think ive even lost my hair, sleep, took days of work as no one calls back ever!

  37. Evans Halshaw Geldard Road are a disgrace!! They sold us a car in a shocking state and we have been fighting for months trying to get them to carry out work that they agreed at the time of the sale. They tell lies to sell cars and then fobb you off. The car has been back 4 times and the work has STILL not been done. One of the sales managers agreed to cover the invoices of the work we had to get done ourselves and the final one to sort out the body work. When we chased this up we were told by Barry Tweddle that he wouldn't be covering the cost as agreed. I would NEVER go there again and would advise anyone thinking of visiting one of their branches to avoid it like the plague. They are a disgrace to the car industry.
